Good news!!! It appears that I have been able to successfully locate and restore all of our previous blog post. Yea!!!!! I have had to start over more times than I care to remember so this is a very good thing.
However, it appears that somewhere in all my updates, upgrades, and re-installs that my apron products have disappeared. Apparently they were not stored in the back up files and I managed to wipe them out
So I will be working on re-populating our store with all of our current products. Tell all your friends that may have visited our site recently to check back soon for items that will be available for purchase.
Thank you for your patience

It’s here!!! Virtuous girlhood just announced that the Apron give-away has begun. I am so excited. This is the first apron give-away I have done this year. I LOVE giving away free stuff. Here is how to enter. First…go to www.ameliasaprons.com and find an apron that you like. Then…visit www.virtuousgirlhood.com and post a comment about that apron. It is that easy. The moderator of virtuous girlhood has added several other ways to get EXTRA entries too. So there is really no reason not to enter. If you don’t want a new apron for yourself, then give it away as a gift. Mother’s day is just around the corner, and I happen to know that moms like aprons. Especially cute ones!
Up for grabs in this give-away is the “Regency Apron” Pictured here in muslin, but the winner will receive a pretty crisp white muslin one. So……

With Valentine’s day only 6 days away I thought I would share some helpful resources for your valentine family fun. Over the years our family has celebrated Valentine’s day not only as a romantic couples holiday but also as a family event. Creating fun heart shaped foods, such as pancakes and cookies and exchanging notes and cards to express our love for one another. I encourage everyone with small children to include them in this celebration. It is not just about romance, but about expressing your love, devotion and genuine care for one another.
Below are a few links to some web sites with family fun ideas that you can create with your family.

And, for those of you still not familiar with all the legends of Valentine’s day……
Every February 14, across the United States and in other places around the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint, and where did these traditions come from? Find out about the history of this centuries-old holiday, from ancient Roman rituals to the customs of Victorian England.

It was my goal for this year to post a minimum of 3 post per week. I think I hit that mark only once so far, but please know that I am working hard to improve our site and products. We are working to expand our product line and will be listing a few new fabrics later this week. We have just purchased 2 great new St. Patrick’s day fabrics that will be available for all of our “basic kitchen”, “kitchen and curves” and our “ruffles and curves” aprons. I am hoping to get the fabric selections added to the site on Tuesday 8th, and hopefully will have an apron created in the fabrics by the end of the week.
I kind of dropped the ball on the Valentines aprons. Sorry about that. I did purchase a new fabric for this holiday, but have been so slammed with other work that I have not had time to get it listed. So I guess that will have to wait until next year, or maybe a “just because I love you” apron later in this year.
As always, if you don’t see an apron style that you like, or would like us to create an apron in a different fabric than what you see listed, please notify us. We are happy to create special order items and generally do not charge extra as long as it is a style that we offer already. And, we can get you a quote for a new apron style usually within 24 hours of you notifying us.
Until later, happy baking, cleaning, gardening and happy whatever else you may wear your aprons for.
Blessings
Lorrie

As January draws to a close we will soon be wrapping up our apron survey. Thank you to all who participated in this survey. Your participation helps us to better determine the needs of our customers.
This month we asked you what types of aprons that you liked best and what types of aprons that you would like to see us carry more of. Your answers…..45% of you said that you would like to see more full size aprons and 36% said they would like to see vintage aprons. The other 19% combined asked for cobbler aprons, hostess aprons, and aprons with pockets.
This month, in response to your needs, we have added 3 new Kitchen aprons. We added 2 aprons to our “Kitchen and Curves” line. These aprons are full sized with a feminine scooped neckline and a curved ruffle across the bottom. We also added 1 apron to our basic Kitchen apron design, created with a great new bold floral fabric just in time for spring. And, we plan to continue to develop this apron category with fun new fabrics and variation in our designs. So, even though this survey has come to a close, please feel free to leave us feedback about other full size aprons you may like to see.
February…. will feature another apron survey to better evaluate what types of vintage aprons you are looking for. So be thinking of vintage apron styles or eras in time that you would like to see us represent in the apron world.
Thank you again for your participation. We look forward to serving all you apron needs.

Apron stories
Ok this little e-mail letter found it’s way into my in box and although it is probably circulating around the internet I just had to share it. I guess I should make the disclaimer, that I do not indorse the dietary advice given here, lol. If your going to eat meat, eat good organic meat. If your going to eat chicken, eat healthy chicken and if your going to drink wine, well, be merry. Whatever you like to cook, just don’t forget to wear your apron.
I love this Doctor!
Q: Doctor, I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it…don’t waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap. Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiency. What does cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So steak is nothing more than efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And pork chop can give you 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable product. Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up! Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc. Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can’t think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain…good! Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you? A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!? Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach. Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around! Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me.. Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! ‘Round’ a shape! Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – Chardonnay in one hand – chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO-HOO, what a ride!!” AND….. For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

BBQ Quesadilla recipe
Are you looking for new recipe ideas for all that left over turkey? I personally at the end of Thanksgiving and/or Christmas day take all my leftover turkey and debone it, divide it up into ziplock bags and freeze it. I do save some turkey of course for sandwiches and traditional left over dinner, but we being a small family usually have tons of turkey left over. So, I put it in the freezer until I am no longer sick of turkey from all the holiday gorging and then look for new and yummy recipes to use it up later. This year I found a good one. BBQ Quesadilla. If you are like me, you may say eeww, bbq and turkey? But it is really very delicious! So pull out some leftovers and put on your favorite apron and try this great recipe on for size.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups leftover turkey–cut into bit size pieces
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- BBQ sauce
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 med. flour tortilla
- 1/2 C oil divided
Sautee’ onion in 2 T oil. Add turkey and bbq sauce and let simmer for 15 minutes. In another sauté pan add 2T oil. Brown tortillas on both sides one at a time adding more oil when needed. Spoon bbq turkey onto half of a tortilla and sprinkle with cheese, fold tortilla over. Broil in over for aprox. 3 minutes on each side or until cheese is melted. Serve with sour cream and corn chips.
This has become one of my children’s favorite quesadilla recipes,so I hope you enjoy it.
Bon appetite

Join us for an early bird sale on our most popular garden apron. Now for a limited time only you can save 10% off the regular price of $19.99!!
The Amish apron is one of our best selling aprons. Many people love this apron design just for the simple fact that there are no strings to tie. The tank style top is designed to distribute the weight of the apron evenly across the shoulders, instead of pulling on the neck like most conventional aprons. The full skirt can be used to carry veggies in from the garden, swaddle a baby coming out of the bath, or just to wipe your hands on. It’s full gathered design also allows for ease of movement and fits nice on full figured woman.
We have also added an option for pockets to this popular apron. Two large pockets in the front of this apron make gathering up small toys, such as legos, pieces of trash or other small objects around the house much easier. No need to make many trips, just fill up your pockets. These pockets are also good for holding recipe cards and other items that you may need to keep close at hand.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE from Amelia’s Aprons to you….We pray that you will have a safe and happy new years eve. May the Lord richly bless you in the upcoming new year. I hope that everyone will take some time to reflect on the goodness of the Lord tonight and remember to be grateful and thankful for His providence over our lives. Many have suffered loss both familial and financial and destruction of property due to extreme weather. Whatever your hard times may have been this past year I would encourage you to find the good in every situation and praise the Lord that you are here tonight. For we know not what tomorrow brings, but we do know that God is with us. Forgive one another, Love one another for tomorrow is a brand new year. Micah 6:8 says….what does the Lord require of me? To do justly, love mercy and to walk humbly before our God. May we all remember that as we start our new year.
I resolve this new years to be a better blogger, create a few new products, and offer you the best customer service that is humanly possible.
Blessings to all my faithful customers. May 2011 bring you many triumphs and great joy.

Today I was searching the internet to find traditional foods for our new years day meal. I have to admit that I have never been one to cook traditional good luck foods, but my curiosity this year got the best of me. And, since the only traditional food I know about is black eyed peas, not one of my favorite foods, I decided to investigate.
I found a fact filled web page that I thought might be helpful for all of you who are gearing up for your new years celebration. Below is just a snippet of the introduction, but the article goes on to break down the different foods that are consumed around the world and gives an explanation as to why they are considered good fortune meals.
So I hope that you enjoy this article and as you don your new holiday aprons and head to the kitchen to prepare your feast may the Lord richly bless you in the up coming year.
For many, January 1 offers an opportunity to forget the past and make a clean start. But instead of leaving everything up to fate, why not enjoy a meal to increase your good fortune? There are a variety of foods that are believed to be lucky and to improve the odds that next year will be a great one. Traditions vary from culture to culture, but there are striking similarities in what’s consumed in different pockets of the world: The six major categories of auspicious foods are grapes, greens, fish, pork, legumes, and cakes. Whether you want to create a full menu of lucky foods or just supplement your meal, we have an assortment of recipes, guaranteed to make for a happy new year, or at the very least a happy belly.
